Manet and Titian together at last
It has finally happened. Two of the greatest paintings of reclining nudes are shown together for the first and possibly the last time (at least in our lifetime). Two gems shining brightly on the historical walls of the Doge's Palace in Venice.
Manet was greatly inspired by the Italian Masters in his early years and indeed throughout his life. This exhibition brings his passion for these artists alive with style and clarity.
His interpretations of these works are what mark him out as a Great Master. He studied them, drew them and interpreted them. Beautifully and in his own style.
What a treat for anyone visiting Venice.
My advice: Go see. Please… go see.
